Jim was present in the meeting when Community of Hope Ministries was birthed in the minds of the leadership of the First Baptist Church of Garner. He whole-heartedly agreed that not only was there a need for the original ministry (the after school program for at-risk students in the Garner community) but that this was a great example of the Lord inviting us to join Him in the work that He was doing in hearts and lives all around us. Eight years later he joined Community of Hope Ministries as the Vice President, later shifting over to serve as a board member then board chair. Jim moved to Garner 35 years ago when his bride Beth accepted the call of the church to serve as the Worship Leader. Jim and Beth have been married for 40 years and are the parents of James (Shauna), Jack, Jenny (Kyle) and Mary Beth (Bruce), and the best part…grandparents to Jamie, Riley and John.
Jim is winding up his career in HVAC sales and management as he anticipates retirement late next year. His hobbies are singing, reading, and following his Alma Mater NC State Wolfpack. His joy is found in studying and teaching God’s Word in small group bible studies.
